Debt Relief Plan

In debt? In the words of Dr. Bill, "How's that workin' out for you?"

Dr. Bill's Debt Relief Plan

Today on the Dr. Bill show, we will explore debt. How do people get so far in debt? And how can they get debt relief? In Dr. Bill's new book, "The Ultimate Debt Relief Solution," he explores these issues and outlines a debt relief plan for almost every debt situation. Today we will talk to a couple of people on Dr. Bill's debt relief plan, which helps consumers find the underlying reasons for overspending. First we'll talk to Shelly, a self-described shopaholic.

Shelly (video clip): "I shop when I'm bored, I shop when I'm sad, I shop when I'm lonely," she says. I feel like nobody will like me if I'm not stylish. I'll appear that I'm not up on things.

Dr. Bill: "So you shop to make yourself feel like you fit in?

Shelly: "Well, not exactly to fit in....I just feel like it's easier if I'm fashionable."

Dr. Bill: "Really?"

Shelly: "Well, yeah."

Dr. Bill: "So you'll shop and buy new clothes--even if you can't afford them--just to "fit in"? Girl, have you read the book?

Shelly: "Sort of."

Dr. Bill: "Sort of!? You told the producers you read the book! Girl, you need to GET REAL! People don't like you for what you wear. If you feel like you don't fit in, you need to find out why. Think about it. If you've gone deep into debt--to the point that you're here talking to me about it--I have a feeling your closet is full of the most fashionable stuff. Yet you're still here talking to me. If your clothes helped you to fit in, you'd be spending your time with these people who you claim will only like you if you're fashionable. Did it ever occur to you that you should spend your time developing outside interests other than shopping? Now, that's what will make you interesting to other people. And while we're on the subject, you need to ask yourself why you want to be friends with people who are so shallow that they would judge you by your clothes. We have deeper issues going on here. Up next, I'll go over some of tips from my "UltimateDebt Relief Plan" book.

Dr. Bill: We're back with some tips for you about how to develop a debt relief plan for yourself.

  • Track your bills and your spending. Know where your money is going. Educate yourself. Enroll in a credit counseling program, and even go so far as to enroll in a debt management program. Some of the best ones can be found at www.credit-card-debt-relief.biz. Just fill out the form on their website (which is secure, so don't worry about that) and within 24 hours you'll receive quotes from one of their professionals and referrals to a number of debt management companies who specialize in debt relief plans. Most of these companies have a credit counseling component you can use to explore why you spend the way you do, learn how to budget and how to use credit wisely. You don't have any obligation to any of these companies. The only obligation you have is to yourself. Get to that website and fill out that form today.
